By-Law and Enforcement Services - Parking on Grass

The Unauthorized Parking By-law 104-2018 states no person shall park, stand or stop a Motor Vehicle in an unauthorized area. No person shall permit the parking, standing or stopping of a Motor Vehicle in an unauthorized area.

An Enforcement Officer will investigate a motor vehicle that is parked on any “Soft Scape”:

  • Any grassy portion of the front lawn
  • Any grassy portion of the Boulevard
  • Any grassy portion of the side yard

One or more tires parked on the grass and/or dirt portion of the yard/lawn/boulevard

Note: If vehicle is parked on hard surface, widened part of the driveway and/or landscaping material (i.e. gravel/ concrete alongside of driveway) a Property Standard Officer will investigate as an illegally widened driveway

Under the “Unauthorized Parking” By-law 104-2018, the definition of a motor vehicle does NOT include a utility trailer. Motor Vehicle means an automobile, motorcycle, motor-assisted bicycle and any other vehicle propelled or driven otherwise than by muscular power.
